About the Role
Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.
We are looking for a talented, teamwork oriented person to join our core platform team in the role of Staff Software Engineer. This team is tasked with evolving a high performance extract-load-transform data integration system, that enables our engineering teams, to correctly implement data connectors with minimal maintenance effort. The role will challenge you to reason about relational semantics, powerful abstractions, data representation, and software performance.
A successful candidate will be humble to learn existing ground realities, start from first principles, help identify fresh perspectives and help the team make the most optimal design decisions. This candidate will be very hands-on on implementation tasks, continuously improve the decision factors to recalibrate the ground realities and help achieve the strategic goals.
This is a full-time position based out of our Bangalore.
Technologies You’ll Use
Java, Postgres, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, BuildKite/Circle CI
What You’ll Do
- You'll be working with Cloud APIs, SQL, and eventing systems.
- You'll be working on the core data pipeline that moves terabytes of data from all our customers to their data warehouse.
- You will process the data into clean, incremental, automated updates.
- As a technical leader in the team, you will drive engineering excellence within the technology team, come up with architecture and design, work closely with engineers in the team to review designs and contribute directly to code.
Skills We’re Looking for
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills with a crave for simplicity
- Hands-on software development
- Experience in architecting reliable distributed systems, with an emphasis on high-volume data management
- Experience and expertise in building backend services and data systems
- Experience with use of wide range of algorithms and data structures
- Broad technical knowledge in software design, development and test automation
- Strong knowledge and expertise in working with Java and databases
- Entrepreneurial mindset, excellent communication skills
Bonus Skills
- Knowledge about one or more cloud service provider product portfolio
- Experience with cloud warehouses, such as Snowflake, BigQuery, RedShift and Databricks
