Software Engineer - Technical Lead (Architect)
BigTime Software
Who We Are
BigTime is the AI-powered professional services platform enabling intelligent decisions and delivering profitable growth. We’ve proudly been featured on Inc.’s 500 Fastest Growing Companies in America four years in a row and named one of Crain’s Best Places to Work three years running.
Our flagship SaaS platform powers 2,700+ consulting firms worldwide, tracking over $4B in billable time each year. We’re on a mission to become the leading AI-driven platform guiding professional services organizations to excel in delivery, resource, and financial management.
Now, we’re searching for a Technical Lead Engineer (Architect) to help us design and lead the next wave of agentic, intelligent systems.
The Opportunity
As a Technical Lead Engineer, you’ll set the architectural direction for BigTime’s AI-driven platform. Your mission: leverage LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and multi-agent systems to automate workflows, deliver insights, and reshape how professional services firms operate.
You’ll design systems where agents orchestrate real-world business intelligence workflows, blending Databricks Lakehouse, LLM-powered reasoning, and visualization tools like Metabase—making decision-making smarter, faster, and more autonomous.
This role isn’t just about adopting AI—it’s about leading a transformation, guiding teams to harness bleeding-edge technologies in ways that provide measurable, secure, and scalable business value.
What You’ll Do
- Architect AI workflows powered by LLMs, RAG, and multi-agent systems to automate complex professional services processes.
- Design integrations with Databricks Lakehouse for scalable data storage, retrieval, and reasoning pipelines.
- Enable agentic visualization workflows that turn raw data into actionable insights in tools like Metabase.
- Define the technical roadmap for AI-driven automation, collaborating with engineering, product, and data science teams.
- Ensure security, governance, and auditability in agentic workflows—embedding trust and explainability by design.
- Mentor engineers and influence cross-functional teams, raising the technical bar and spreading best practices in AI/ML architecture.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies (MCP, A2A, ACP, tool orchestration frameworks) and bring the best into production.
Who You Are
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in architectural/technical leadership roles.
- Proven expertise in building AI-driven systems using LLMs, RAG pipelines, vector search, and multi-agent frameworks.
- Strong background in data engineering and cloud-native architectures (Databricks, AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Hands-on experience with visualization & BI tools (e.g., Metabase, Looker, Tableau) and connecting them into agentic workflows.
- Solid grounding in distributed systems design, observability, and performance optimization.
- Ability to influence strategy while still being hands-on when needed.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to make complex architectures clear and compelling to both technical and business audiences.
